City's Wolfpack competed against Kingston University for Varsity 2024. City proudly secured the victory with a final score of 15.5 to 5.5. Over two days, our student athletes showcased their talents in a variety of sports.

Day one: An impressive start

Varsity kicked off with impressive performances from City's Badminton team. The men’s team won their match with a score of 3-1, the women's team drew 2-2, and the mixed team achieved a victory of 3-0.

These early wins set a positive tone and helped create a winning mindset for the players.

Next, in volleyball, both men’s and women’s teams made winning look easy, both scoring identical 2-0 victories. Lots of students were cheering on and supporting the teams.

Then, the fencing team continued the winning streak, with victories across foil, epee, and sabre categories, showcasing their skill and precision.

The Netball team put on a fantastic performance and won their match against a strong opponent, with excellent shooting, passing and defending.

Basketball was another triumph, with the women's team winning their game and the men’s team successfully shooting hoops for a 57-54 victory.

There was an amazing turnout. Over four hundred people from the City community came along to cheer on the Wolfpack throughout the day, really lifting the team spirit. By the end of the day, City was in lead with an amazing score of 12.5 against Kingston's 0.5.

Day two: Securing the Win

A standout moment for City's Rugby team was when they achieved their first ever Varsity win with a close score of 28-27, showcasing their hard work and perseverance.

Keeping the energy high, City's American football team secured a win with a 25-18 score. The mixed tennis team also won their match, adding another victory to the tally.

While not every match resulted in a win, each team showed commendable effort and sportsmanship.

This Varsity 2024 win is proud moment for the City SU community. A huge well done to City students for securing the trophy for another year in a row with a fantastic 15.5-5.5 score overall.
